Reading Surat Yasin for one who is dying has been reported from some of the Companions. Regarding reading Surat Yasin for the dead, there is no sahih hadith to indicate that this should be done.

Muslims do not celebrate birthdays because it is a kind of innovation in religion which has no basis in the pure Shari`ah.

There is nothing in the Quran to say that we should celebrate the Mawlid al-Nabi or birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet himself did not do this or command anyone to do it, either during his lifetime or after his death.
